From engineer to enterprise architect
My career started in core software engineering: building IPTV delivery systems, telecom integration adapters and high-throughput messaging services that had to stay online at national scale.
That engineering foundation became the basis for systems architecture work, where I moved from writing services to defining how entire platforms are decomposed, deployed, observed and secured.
As Principal Systems Architect for Depot360, I brought product architecture and engineering leadership together across 100+ microservices, event-driven telemetry, multi-region delivery and security designed into the delivery lifecycle. Cloud architecture extends that systems foundation with resilient, observable and cost-efficient infrastructure.
Today I work inside a Cloud Center of Excellence, setting cloud architecture standards, landing zone blueprints, Infrastructure as Code conventions and guardrails that multiple product organizations build on.
My next role can build on either stream: developing and architecting distributed software systems with engineering teams, or leading cloud and platform architecture across product organizations. The through-line is technical judgment, delivery ownership and growing engineers into architectural ownership.
Leadership philosophy
- Architecture is only real when it ships: every standard I define comes with a reference implementation teams can copy.
- Guardrails beat gatekeeping: paved roads and automated policy scale better than architecture review queues.
- Security is a design input, not a release gate: threat analysis and data protection ship with the architecture.
- Measure the outcome, not the diagram: deployment velocity, unit cost and reliability are the scorecard.
- Grow architects, not dependencies: mentoring engineers into ownership is the highest leverage work available.
